Pacific Disability Forum is working closely with the Pacific Leadership Program (PLP) to build the capacity of young persons with disabilities become good and strategic leaders.
The partnership plans to build the knowledge of young people with disabilities with necessary information that would make them become great leaders. It plans to work towards changing their perspective about themselves and build their self-confidence to believe in themselves.
While the partnership comes at the right time for PDF, there’s a need for governments’, communities’ and societal leaders to involve young persons with disabilities in their various communities on an equal basis with others. Hence, PDF together with their partners like PLP will advocate for society’s change of attitude towards persons with disabilities.
PDF believes that such partnership is needed to ensure the advancement of the promotion, protection and enjoyment of persons with disabilities right and guarantee the involvement of young persons with disabilities in all aspects of societal leadership.
PDF, in recognising the need to build capacity of young persons with disabilities, had conducted two regional conferences for youth with disabilities in the region and will continue to host this conference in the future on a biennial basis.
