7th Pacific Regional Conference on Disability – Youth Forum
The Pacific Disability Forum (PDF), as the peak regional organization for persons with disabilities, organizes a biennial Pacific regional conference on disability inclusion as a platform for Organizations for Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).
This platform of dialogue and networking with development partners addresses disability inclusion challenges in the different thematic areas so persons with disabilities in the Pacific can enjoy and live full and meaningful lives. In 2019, the 6th Pacific Regional Conference on Disability was the first session of its kind dedicated to Youths with Disabilities. This empowered youths to raise their concerns and their issues raised at a higher level during the conference. Such issues would later be addressed through the Pacific Youth Strategy 2021-2025 as a way forward for the inclusion of Youths with Disabilities in the Community.
PDF’s Regional Youth Committee comprises of youth representatives (18 years to 35 years) who provide further support to the implementation of the Youth Strategy Action Plan 2021-2025. The 7th Pacific Regional Conference on Disability – Youth Forum is a strategic platform for young people with disabilities to be heard, actively participate, be informed and to be equipped to implement advocacy activities based on key priorities that is reflected in the Youth Strategy Action Plan 2021-2025.
