From IDA Secretariat:

After a two-year hiatus UNWomen is excited to bring grassroots feminist activists, allies and partners of the women’s rights movement to the halls of the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, as we UNiTE! for the Official UN Commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on Wednesday, 23 November 2022 from 10 am – 11.30 am (EST). This event will take place in-person will be live broadcast through UN Web TV and UN Women YouTube channels.

Under the global umbrella theme of the 2022 UNiTE Campaign: “UNiTE! Activism to End Violence against Women & Girls”, the event will shine a spotlight on the powerful role of women’s rights movements in preventing and eliminating Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), mobilize more people to support efforts in ending VAWG and to pushback against the rollback on women’s rights; and kickstart the activities of the 16 Days of Activism.

The event will feature our Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Executive Director of UN Women, United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, its causes and consequences, Leaders of the Action Coalition on Gender-based Violence, members of civil society and women’s rights organizations, including UN Trust Fund grantees, youth leaders and more champions from across the world.

In a time of growing pushback against the hard-earned gains of the feminist movements and the impending threat to the rights of women and girls everywhere, we invite you to ORANGE THE WORLD through ACTIVISM.

We will keep you posted on further details and request that you please share this Save the Date widely amongst your networks and inspire others to join the movement!

Vinaka and Kind Regards
